Job summary

City of Monterey is seeking a Building Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the repair, maintenance, and remodeling of city buildings and facilities, including rental units and contracted work.

The role requires 5 years of maintenance crew management, proficiency in cost estimation, budgeting, and safety practices, with work performed on a military installation and city facilities. California Driver’s license is required; Class B license is desirable.

Qualifications

• Two years of college coursework in business, management, engineering, or related field.
• Five (5) years of experience in building maintenance, repair, and managing building/construction work crews.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review, and participate in staff work for facility maintenance.
• Oversee contractual work (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc.) and ensure standards.
• Prepare maintenance schedules and monitor PM compliance.
• Prepare cost estimates and oversee bids for major repairs.
• Maintain records, reports, and work orders; track labor and costs.
