Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a Maintenance Assistant in San Francisco, CA to handle maintenance and janitorial duties at the Harbor Light Center. The role involves supervising operations when the Facilities Manager is unavailable and ensuring health and safety compliance.

You will inspect facilities, perform minor repairs, coordinate with subcontractors, and keep records of repairs and safety compliance. Requires a high school diploma and CA driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid CA driver’s license is required.
• Experience in building maintenance and repair work (1 year).
• OSHA Safety Certification within 90 days (company provided).
• First Aid and CPR certification within seven days (company provided).
• Tuberculosis clearance within 14 days (company provided).

Responsibilities

• Take charge of operations when Facilities Manager is unavailable.
• Inspect buildings, grounds and equipment for safety and function.
• Complete minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC repairs.
• Diagnose and fix lighting, heating, cooling, and appliance issues.
• Maintain HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems and safety logs.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and janitorial staff for repairs.
• Prepare rooms for move in/out and conduct inspections.
