Job summary

VOA Illinois is seeking a Facilities Assistant in Joliet, IL to maintain cleanliness and support the Property Manager and HMII maintenance staff. The role includes light maintenance tasks, unit turnovers, and ensuring safe, ready spaces for residents and staff.

The position requires a High School Diploma, English fluency, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. It is a full-time, in-office, on-site role with daily responsibilities across indoor and outdoor areas.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate English fluently.
• Previous janitorial, custodial, or facilities experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Physical ability to lift, bend, stand, and work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform painting and touch-ups in units and common areas.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, offices, and common areas.
• Collect and dispose of trash and recycling.
• Prepare apartment units for showing and move-in.
• Maintain outdoor areas including mowing and snow/ice removal.
• Inspect and follow safety procedures with the Property Manager.
• Assist with light maintenance and basic repairs.
• Follow safety guidelines and handle cleaning chemicals properly.
