Job summary

Metro’s Waste Prevention & Environmental Services (WPES) department seeks a Facilities Maintenance Specialist to support operations across transfer stations, landfills, and hazardous waste facilities. Primary duties at the Metro South Transfer Station may rotate to other sites as needed.

You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems, supervise technicians, coordinate contractors, and develop maintenance schedules to ensure safe,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 3 years of facilities maintenance experience.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured by Metro.
• Combination of experience, education and training meeting essential duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on facilities, systems and equipment including HVAC, electrical, plumbing and building controls.
• Lead maintenance work, coordinate tasks, provide guidance to technicians and monitor quality.
• Oversee maintenance projects, repairs and facility improvements; coordinate with internal and external resources.
• Coordinate contractors and service providers for maintenance, repair, and construction projects; ensure safety and quality.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems and fleet/equipment; respond to urgent issues.
• Maintain records, schedules, drawings, and maintenance documentation; manage inventory and parts.
