Job summary

Metro in Portland, Oregon seeks a Facilities Maintenance Specialist to support operations at the Waste Prevention & Environmental Services department. The role focuses on preventive and corrective maintenance across facilities, grounds, and equipment, with emphasis on HVAC, electrical, and safety systems.

You will lead maintenance tasks, coordinate contractors, develop schedules, and respond to emergencies, ensuring safe, reliable operations at transfer stations and related sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of facilities maintenance experience preferred.
• Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and safety systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on facilities, building systems, grounds, infrastructure, and equipment across multiple sites.
• Lead maintenance work, train and supervise technicians; coordinate contractors.
• Develop maintenance schedules and prioritize repairs.
• Oversee projects, emergency response, and weather-related operations.
• Ensure safe disposal of chemicals and maintain records.
