Job summary

Metro is seeking a Transfer Station Technician I at the Metro South Transfer Station to help keep operations safe, efficient, and welcoming. This hands-on role involves directing traffic, screening loads, assisting customers, and recovering materials in a busy outdoor environment.

The position emphasizes teamwork, safety, and learning to operate tools and equipment used in transfer station operations, with opportunities to contribute to a cleaner community.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
  • Six months of related experience or equivalent training.

Responsibilities

  • Manage customer and site traffic to maintain safe and efficient movement.
  • Screen incoming vehicles and loads for hazards and special handling.
  • Direct customers with disposal and recycling locations, procedures and fees.
  • Unload, sort and recover materials on the tipping floor and recovery areas.
  • Separate recyclable and reusable materials and support material recovery.
  • Keep the transfer station clean and safe through routine maintenance.
