Job summary

Carolina Foods, Inc. is seeking a Facilities Mechanic for the night shift on a 2-2-3 rotation to maintain and repair plant systems. Responsibilities include inspecting and servicing boilers, chillers, HVAC, and wastewater-related equipment.

The role involves working in a manufacturing environment with safety and equipment monitoring. Prior experience in mechanical/electrical inspections is preferred; opportunities to mentor junior technicians are available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with maintenance experience in a manufacturing facility.
• Preferred college or technical schooling in mechanical, wastewater, HVAC, or boiler systems.
• Experience with electrical inspections and preventive maintenance is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and repair building systems including boilers, air compressors, chillers, and HVAC.
• Conduct routine inspections and identify maintenance needs or safety hazards.
• Generate work requests for internal or contract maintenance, especially for utilities.
• Perform daily preventive maintenance and document performance trends.
• Assist contract maintenance providers as needed.
• Mentor multi-craft technicians to improve plant system skills.
• Perform other duties around plant and office areas as required.

Facilities Mechanic – Night Shift (2-2-3 rotation)

Job Summary:

Building system monitoring, troubleshooting and repair. Including but not limited to gas fired boilers, air compressors, condensate systems, glycol chillers, glycol refrigeration units, direct contact water heaters, HVAC including freon cooling, gas heating, make-up air, air recirculating equipment, DAF wastewater treatment, stormwater protection awareness, spill awareness.

• Conducting routine inspections: The technician is responsible for regularly inspecting the facility to identify any maintenance needs or safety hazards.
• Operating and maintaining tools and equipment: The technician should have knowledge of and experience in safely operating tools and equipment used in maintenance work.
• Identifies need for work and generates work requests for both internal and contract maintenance. Especially regarding utility systems.
• Performs daily preventive maintenance and checks to ensure equipment is operating within its parameters, and no performance degrading trends are occurring.
• Performs and documents emergency work as required.
• Assists contract maintenance providers as required.
• Serves as a mentor of multi-craft technicians to improve their skills and abilities related to plant systems.
• Performs other duties throughout the plant and office areas as required.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift 20 to 50 pounds.

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time including climbing, bending, stooping and kneeling in order to move and work around equipment.

Ability to work in an environment that has high temperatures, humidity, loud equipment and slippery surfaces.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED; a minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing facility performing mechanical and/or electrical inspections, troubleshooting and repairs; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• College or formal technical school education with demonstrated aptitude and skills in mechanical, wastewater treatment, HVAC, and Boiler repairs.
• One to two years in food manufacturing environment
• Mechanical or electrical certifications/licenses
