Job summary

Empire Livestock LLC is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to keep facilities and production equipment running reliably. You will troubleshoot, perform preventive maintenance, and repair or upgrade machinery to improve safety and efficiency.

The role requires good diagnostic skills, experience with conveyors, boilers, chillers, and a commitment to safety and OSHA standards; you will document activities and collaborate with production teams.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma, vocational training, or related field preferred.
  • Certifications or experience in HVAC, refrigeration desired but not required.
  • Experience: 2–3 years in facility and production maintenance environment.
  • Experience with boilers, chillers, & refrigeration systems desired but not required.
  • Technical Skills: Conveyor systems maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of case erecting and folding systems, operation and repair.
  • Safety Knowledge: OSHA compliance; LOTO and Arc Flash desired.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills for diagnosing electro/mechanical issues.
  • Physical Requirements: Lift up to 50 lbs, confined spaces.
  • Communication Skills: Verbal and written; follow instructions.
  • Tools and Equipment: Own basic hand tools; proficient with power tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Computer skills: navigate MS Office.
  • CMMS familiarity; MVP a plus.
  • Attention to Detail: Document maintenance tasks carefully.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Work independently and with a team; train others.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting and diagnostics of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
  • Performing preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Carrying out repairs or modifications to improve performance and safety.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations, GMPs and SOPs.
  • Documenting maintenance activities and inspections.
  • Collaborating with production teams to resolve issues.
  • Training and developing skills related to new technologies and equipment.

Job description

The Maintenance Mechanic plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of facilities and production equipment. This position is responsible for:

  • Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: Identifying mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in equipment and facilities, using diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Performing routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment operates efficiently and to minimize downtime.
  • Repairs and Modifications: Conducting repairs on machinery and equipment, as well as making modifications or upgrades to enhance performance and safety.
  • Compliance and Safety: Adhering to all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards, including GMPs and SOPs, to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Documentation: Keeping accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections to track equipment performance and compliance.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with production teams and other maintenance staff to address equipment issues promptly and support production goals.
  • Training and Development: Continuously updating skills and knowledge related to new technologies, equipment, and maintenance practices.

  • Pay range $38.05-48.05 per hour

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education:

  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50Lbs, work in confined spaces, and perform physical tasks.
  • Communication Skills:
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Tools and Equipment:
  • Own basic hand tool and be proficient with power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to navigate through a computer and MS Office.
  • Familiarity with (CMMS), MVP is a plus.
  • Attention to Detail:
  • Strong attention to detail in completing tasks and documenting maintenance.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage time efficiently.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration:
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to assist and train others as needed.
