Job summary

The Salvation Army Newark Corps is seeking a Facility Maintenance Technician responsible for keeping the Corps and shelter facilities clean, safe, and well-maintained. This role involves routine repairs, preventive maintenance, and coordinating with outside vendors for specialized services.

Candidates should have at least one year of maintenance or janitorial experience, a high school diploma or GED, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in facility maintenance, janitorial services, or related field; supervisory experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of building maintenance and minor repairs (plumbing, electrical, HVAC).
• Ability to read and follow instructions for chemicals, equipment, and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive and general maintenance of the facilities including minor repairs.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of offices, common areas, kitchens, bathrooms, and stairs.
• Operate cleaning equipment and stock/restock supplies as needed.
• Coordinate with outside vendors for specialized repairs and services.
• Monitor compliance with health, safety, and building codes and inspections.
