The Town of Harrisburg currently has an employment opportunity in our Parks and Recreation Department for a Facilities Maintenance Specialist. The Facilities Maintenance Specialist performs a variety of skilled, semi-skilled and manual labor tasks related to the maintenance and repair of town facilities. Work varies by season but includes performing various landscaping and horticultural tasks, building maintenance tasks, mowing grass, marking ball fields, special event set up and clean up, and operating equipment. The employee also performs unskilled to semi-skilled trades repairs. Work subjects the employee to inside and outside environmental conditions, extremes in temperatures, and hazards associated with equipment operation including fumes, oils, gases, and mists. Work is performed under regular supervision and is evaluated through regular project updates, direct observation, citizen comments, and quality and quantity of maintenance and repair work.
We are looking for an individual with experience in building and grounds maintenance or closely related fields such as landscaping, horticulture, trades helper, or maintenance. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid NC Driver’s License. Must also have the ability to obtain a Pesticide Applicator’s License and Playground Maintenance Certificate within the timeframe set by the Town.

The salary range is $39,427 - $49,043 and starting salary will be dependent on qualifications and prior experience. Will also be eligible for a $2,500 sign-on bonus upon hire.
