Responsibilities

  • Coordinate emergencies with Head Start Operations Coordinator and communicate staff.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and safety checks of agency vehicles and equipment.
  • Refuel/check fluids and vehicle cleanliness as needed.
  • Inspect buildings, grounds and equipment to identify repairs and report hazards.
  • Move vehicles and furniture as needed and assist with set-up for events.

Status: Regular Part Time
Schedule: Monday-Friday; 16-20 hrs./wk.
Salary: $16.93-$19.92/hr. (commensurate w/experience & education)

STRATEGIC FUNCTION

To provide routine repairs and maintenance of facilities and equipment. Provide support services such as move vehicles to different locations, move equipment, deliver supplies, and assist with training and special event set-up.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

May include the following: Transportation:

  • In conjunction with Head Start Operations Coordinator, coordinate the handling of emergencies, delays or cancellations or other unforeseen circumstances. Then communicate staff.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and safety checks of agency vehicles and equipment.
  • Refuel/check fluids/car wash etc., on agency vehicles as needed.
  • Monitor/coordinate agency vehicles for current inspections, oil changes, etc.
  • Move vehicles from different sites and as needed, to vehicle repair agencies.

Facilities:

  • Repair minor plumbing issues.
  • Replace lighting as needed (fluorescent light, light bulbs, etc.)
  • Install office furniture, and hang bulletin boards, etc.
  • Move furniture and equipment, set up classrooms, set up for meetings and special events.
  • Assist in maintaining supply inventory.
  • Delivery of supplies to sites.
  • Inspect buildings, grounds and equipment to identify maintenance, repairs, and report safety hazards.

Other:

  • Arrives on time and works designated hours (unless otherwise specified by immediate supervisor).
  • Flexibility with work schedule and location as needed based on program needs, 5 hours per day.
  • Submits time sheets accurately and on time to supervisor.
  • Submits mileage accurately and on time to supervisor.Attends all staff and other meetings as assigned.
  • Be a positive role model.
  • Maintains confidentiality: records, client services, and staff.
  • Adheres to agency's best practices related to time and leave.
  • Dress is appropriate to work environment.
  • Maintains a safe, orderly and clean environment.
  • Willing to work at alternative locations.
  • All other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENT/QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Ability to work with young children
  • Knowledge of operation and use of hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of methods, equipment and materials used in general maintenance work.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in English, both orally and in writing,
  • Basic computer skills: Windows/Excel

Physical Requirements:

  • Daily standing for periods of several hours while executing various tasks
  • Ability to crouch, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, etc. to facilitate various repairs and maintenance. Includes frequent ladder climbing and occasionally crawling under buildings
  • Simple grasping and hand manipulation required as well as reaching above shoulder level

Other Requirements:

  • Pre-employment driver's license check
  • Annual driver's license check
  • Initial and annual TB screening are required for all Head Start staff at the agency's expense.
  • Criminal Background Check required for all Head Start staff at the agency's expense.
  • Fingerprinting required for all Head Start staff at the employee's expense.
  • Valid insurance (personal injury and liability)
