Job summary

Prince William County’s Department of Facilities and Fleet Management is seeking a Maintenance and Operations Specialist to plan, coordinate, and oversee maintenance and small renovation projects across county facilities. This role serves as the on-site presence, coordinating from request through closeout and ensuring work aligns with county standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and two years of hands-on work in commercial building maintenance or related field.
• Experience coordinating or overseeing maintenance and repair work performed by others.
• Experience preparing cost estimates and scopes of work for maintenance and small renovations.

Responsibilities

• Define scopes of work for maintenance and small renovation requests and build realistic schedules.
• Oversee contractors on site, verify work against standards, and resolve field conditions.
• Apply knowledge of building systems to evaluate conditions and recommend repairs.
• Coordinate with landlords, property managers, and tenants on lease responsibilities.
• Maintain project records, estimates, inspections, photos, and warranties in the system.
• Communicate clearly with occupants about schedule, disruption, and costs; provide updates.
