Job summary

YMCA of Greater Long Beach is seeking an experienced Facilities Maintenance Supervisor to manage maintenance and custodial duties across branches. You will oversee repairs, safety inspections, and preventative maintenance programs to ensure reliable operations and minimal disruption to programs and events.

The role requires strong leadership over maintenance staff, coordination with leadership, and adherence to Cal-OSHA safety standards, with early mornings, nights, and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of related construction, facility and/or property experience.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
• Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
• Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.
• Criminal clearance, health screening with TB test.
• CPR and First Aid preferred.
• Must have one year of custodial or janitorial experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain annual and quarterly maintenance work plans.
• Oversee the ordering and management of maintenance and custodial supplies for all facilities.
• Provide oversight and direction to the maintenance, housekeeping, and custodial staff as directed by the supervisor.
• Collaborate with the leadership team to develop an annual branch repair and replacement plan.
• Insure the readiness of and viability of back-up electrical system to provide essential services to staff and guests.
• Oversee major and minor construction projects from conception to completion, ensuring milestones, deadlines, and punch lists are met.
• Conduct facility audits and safety inspections to ensure compliance with safety requirements; document findings through formal reports.
• Develop and implement inventory control procedures.
• Create and maintain preventative maintenance procedures and SOPs.
• Ensure the protection and proper care of assets, including minimizing inventory shrinkage.
• Maintain open communication with staff and leadership when planning maintenance projects to avoid conflicts with scheduled YMCA events.
• Plan and schedule preventive maintenance and repairs to minimize disruption to guests and scheduled events.
• Inspect YMCA vehicles for safety issues, damage, and cleanliness.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and vehicle maintenance schedules.
• Manage telecommunication and IT equipment.
• Supervise the night and weekend maintenance staff person.
• Develop and maintain a maintenance program for all YMCA vehicles.
• Ensure water system design and maintenance meet current and future requirements; provide information to government agencies.
• Monitor security of the branch to ensure staff and participant safety and prevent facility damage.
• Maintain records on facility condition and serviceability; advise leadership on needs within budget.
