Job summary

YMCA of South Alabama is seeking a Maintenance and Facilities Director to lead maintenance across four branches in two counties. The role blends hands-on technical work with strategic leadership to ensure safe, reliable facilities.

Under the VP Operations, you will manage budgets, schedules, and vendor use, develop internal talent, and drive safety and sustainability across aquatics, fitness, and program spaces.

Qualifications

• High School/GED diploma required.
• Associate’s degree or greater preferred.
• Trade School (plumbing, electrical, HVAC) preferred.
• Three or more years’ experience in facility management or closely related field.
• CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Pool operator license (CPO) required or obtained in first 90 days.
• Must obtain CPR, AED, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Direct maintenance across four branches, coordinating priorities and budgets.
• Oversee facility systems for reliability, safety, and sustainability.
• Lead maintenance team and reduce external vendor reliance.
• Plan projects, scheduling, material acquisition, and resource allocation.
• Ensure compliance with YMCA safety policies and regulatory requirements.
• Respond to emergencies and incident reporting.
