Responsibilities

Position: Facilities Manager

Location: On-site – Holy Spirit Catholic Church

Department: Parish Administration

Reports To: Pastor/Parish Administrator

Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Pay Range: $28–$40 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Position Summary

The Facilities Manager is responsible for coordinating the maintenance, repair, cleanliness, safety, and security of all parish buildings and grounds. This position oversees facility operations by coordinating custodial services, managing vendors and contractors, and ensuring the parish campus remains safe, clean, and welcoming for worship, ministry, and parish activities.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Facilities Management

• Conduct routine inspections of parish buildings and grounds.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs for building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and irrigation.
• Perform minor maintenance and repairs as needed.
• Identify facility needs and recommend improvements.

Contractor & Custodial Oversight

• Coordinate and supervise contractors, ensuring compliance with parish, diocesan, insurance, and safety requirements.
• Obtain estimates, recommend qualified vendors, and monitor the quality, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness of contractor work.
• Coordinate and supervise custodial staff or contracted cleaning services.
• Ensure the church, parish hall, offices, classrooms, restrooms, kitchens, storage areas, and other parish facilities are clean, orderly, and well maintained.
• Monitor the quality of custodial services and address deficiencies as needed.

Grounds, Safety & Events

• Coordinate landscaping, pest control, and exterior maintenance.
• Monitor safety equipment and assist with compliance with diocesan and local regulations.
• Support facility setup and breakdown for liturgies, meetings, weddings, funerals, and parish events.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Maintain records of maintenance, inspections, warranties, service contracts, and vendor services.
• Purchase and maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment.
• Assist with the facilities budget and provide regular updates to the Pastor/Parish Administrator on maintenance needs, projects, and capital improvements.

Other Duties

• Respond to occasional facility emergencies outside regular work hours.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Pastor/Parish Administrator.

Qualifications

• Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
• Three to five years of experience in facilities maintenance, building operations, or property management.
• Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a Catholic parish, school, or nonprofit organization.
• Familiarity with Catholic parish operations and liturgical schedules.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to walk, bend, climb ladders, and work indoors and outdoors.
• Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment and standard office technology.
