Job summary

City of Portland is seeking two Facilities Maintenance Technicians to maintain parks facilities across the city, focusing on heating, cooling, lighting, and building equipment. You will diagnose issues, perform timely repairs, and respond to urgent failures to keep facilities operating smoothly.

The role includes working with HVAC and electrical systems, preventative maintenance, and may involve training an apprentice. Language Pay Differential may apply for qualifying employees.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of building/facility automated control systems and components.
• Experience performing building maintenance and repairs including scheduling and performing preventative maintenance inspections, repair of interior and exterior hardware.
• Experience performing installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems, such as the operation of chillers, boilers, fan systems, and pumps.
• Experience performing repair and replacement of facilities electrical components.
• Experience managing facility maintenance hazards and safety precautions, including applicable OSHA standards while working autonomously.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, service, and troubleshoot various systems and equipment.
• Check equipment for glitches and inconsistencies.
• Repair defective components to avoid delays in operation.
• Install and assemble new machines.
• Respond to work orders.
• Troubleshoot, repair, replace, or install mechanical, alarm, and electrical systems.
• Assist in annual inspections of fire suppression and alarm systems as well as assisting to correct any outstanding deficiencies.
• Ensure operational efficiency, safety, and comfort in diverse environments.
