Job summary

Starting immediately, the internship involves practical tasks under supervision, PPE use, and collaboration with facilities staff to learn basic plumbing, electrical and HVAC

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Plaquemines Parish School Board high school with the class designation of junior or senior
• Strong work ethic, reliability and attention to detail
• Ability to lift and move equipment and materials up to 50 lbs
• Ability to follow instructions and work safely
• Basic knowledge of PPE use
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
• Willingness to learn and contribute to tasks as assigned

Responsibilities

• Assist with general upkeep of school facilities (classrooms, offices, hallways)
• Perform minor repairs to plumbing, electrical and HVAC under supervision
• Assist with grounds maintenance and debris removal
• Support setup and breakdown of school events
• Help manage maintenance supplies and inventory
• Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, safe work area
• Assist with painting, fixtures, and bulb replacement
• Participate in larger facility projects as needed
• Support emergency maintenance tasks as needed
• Store chemicals safely with proper labeling
