Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern California is hiring a Custodian/Facilities Assistant to organize and direct maintenance of Corps buildings, grounds, and vehicles. You will perform pickups, deliveries, and help keep facilities clean and in good order.

You will follow schedules, support program setups, and work with staff and community-service workers under supervision. A valid California driver’s license and safety compliance are required.

Qualifications

• Follow written and verbal directions with clear communication.
• Flexible schedule including weekends.
• Experience with custodial/maintenance equipment.
• Ability to work with children and vulnerable adults with boundaries.
• Professional presentation and positive interaction.

Responsibilities

• Organize and oversee daily custodian schedule for Corps building and external needs.
• Keep janitorial/maintenance closets and supply areas neat and clean.
• Assist with program setup and utilize community-service workers as needed.
• Service periodic checks on emergency systems, alarms, and equipment; propose small in-house projects.
• Secure doors/windows daily and ensure lights are off when exiting premises.
• Assist with food pantry duties: stocking shelves, inventory, and donations.
• Maintain driving and vehicle records; comply with CA driving requirements.
