Job summary

Tippecanoe County Government is seeking a Custodian in the Maintenance Department to maintain cleaning and general upkeep of County facilities. The role emphasizes sanitation, safety, and efficient daily operations across multiple buildings.

The incumbent will perform daily cleaning tasks, assist with restrooms, trash/recycling, exterior areas, and safety hazard responses while adhering to county policies. Evening shifts are regularly required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Pass background check.
• Knowledge of basic cleaning, sanitation and safety policies.
• Ability to follow oral/written instructions and product directions.
• Operate hand/power tools and cleaning equipment.
• Physically capable of duties up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work evenings and comply with policies.
• Maintain confidentiality and serve the public professionally.

Responsibilities

• Cleans facilities including dusting, floor care, and waste collection.
• Cleans and disinfects restrooms and maintains supplies.
• Maintains exterior garbage/recycle areas and safety areas.
• Uses leaf blower and shovels snow as needed.
• Maintains facility security during working hours.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
