Job summary

Tippecanoe County Government is seeking a Custodian for the Maintenance Department to perform cleaning and basic maintenance across county facilities. The role requires handling cleaning equipment, operating safely around chemicals, and maintaining cleanliness in offices, restrooms, lobbies, and exterior areas.

Evening work hours are required, with duties outlined in the job description. The incumbent will report to the Night Custodial Supervisor and must pass a background check.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to pass background check as part of hiring requirements.
• Working knowledge of basic cleaning, sanitation, safety policies and procedures.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions and product directions.
• Operates a variety of hand and/or power tools and equipment.
• Physically capable of performing essential duties including lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work independently and in a team; maintain public confidentiality as required.

Responsibilities

• Cleans facilities including dusting, floors, windows, and furniture.
• Cleans and disinfects restrooms and restocking supplies.
• Maintains exterior garbage and recycle areas for safety and cleanliness.
• Uses leaf blower for outdoor debris and shovels snow as needed.
• Maintains security of facilities by ensuring doors are secured.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
