Job summary

Tippecanoe County Government is seeking a Maintenance Technician to service county facilities and equipment. The role involves inspecting, maintaining, and repairing HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems, and ensuring safety and reliability across county buildings.

The technician will perform preventive maintenance, assist with new construction and remodels, and coordinate with the Maintenance Director and vendors. Strong mechanical aptitude and safety knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED and related experience preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and maintain building equipment.
• Working knowledge of building codes and OSHA safety policies.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools and read/dollow work orders.

Responsibilities

• Inspect facilities and equipment to identify repairs and maintenance needs.
• Maintain HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems plumbing repairs as needed.
• Perform preventive maintenance and safety checks.
• Assist with new construction and remodels projects.
• Coordinate with Maintenance Director and vendors; monitor work orders.
• Respond to emergencies on a 24-hour basis.
• Communicate with staff about disruptive maintenance activities.
• Transport and deliver supplies and parts to buildings.
