Job summary

Haverhill Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Massachusetts is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Assistant to join our team. You will help ensure safe, efficient operation of the facility and support a preventive maintenance program.

The role requires at least two years in a maintenance position, nursing home experience, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals. HVAC certification is strongly preferred, with knowledge of boilers, generators, and building codes.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of maintenance experience in a professional setting.
• Nursing home experience is required.
• HVAC certification strongly preferred.
• Able to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings.
• Familiar with boilers, compressors, generators and related systems.
• Knowledge of building codes and safety regulations.
• Read, write and understand English; able to work independently when needed.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct and evaluate the Maintenance Department and its activities.
• Develop and maintain maintenance policies and procedures.
• Support staff with policies, equipment and supply management.
• Review and revise department documentation annually; report to Administrator.
• Coordinate maintenance with Dietetics, Nursing and Activities departments.
• Provide written/oral reports and recommendations to the Administrator.
• Assist in establishing a preventive maintenance program.

Facilities Maintenance Assistant

The Haverhill Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Assistant to join our team! As a key member of our maintenance department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our facility.

Responsibilities:

• Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the Maintenance Department, its programs and activities.
• Develop and maintain written maintenance policies and procedures.
• Assist the maintenance staff in the development and use of departmental policies, procedures, equipment, supplies, etc.
• Review the department's policies, procedure manuals, job descriptions, etc., at least annually for revisions and make recommendations to the Administrator.
• Coordinate maintenance services and activities with other related departments (i.e., Dietary, Nursing, Activities, etc.).
• Make written oral reports/recommendations to the Administrator as necessary/required concerning the operation of the Maintenance Department.
• Assist in establishing a preventive maintenance program.

Requirements:

• Must have, as a minimum, two (2) years experience in a maintenance position.
• Nursing home experience required.
• HVAC certification strongly preferred.
• Must be knowledgeable of boilers, compressors, generators, etc., as well as various mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
• Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Must be knowledgeable in building codes and safety regulations.
• Must be licensed in accordance with current applicable standards, codes, labor laws, etc.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
