Job summary

The Haverhill Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Assistant to join our team in Haverhill, MA. You will support the maintenance department in ensuring safe, reliable operation of building systems and equipment.

Responsibilities include policy development, coordinating with Dietary, Nursing and Activities, and contributing to a preventive maintenance program.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years' experience in a maintenance position.
• Nursing home experience is required.
• HVAC certification is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of boilers, compressors, generators and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Knowledge of building codes and safety regulations.
• Licensed in accordance with current standards, codes and labor laws.
• Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
• Ability to make independent decisions when warranted.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the Maintenance Department, its programs and activities.
• Develop and maintain written maintenance policies and procedures.
• Assist staff in the development and use of departmental policies, procedures, equipment, supplies, etc.
• Review the department's policies, procedure manuals, job descriptions, etc., at least annually for revisions and make recommendations to the Administrator.
• Coordinate maintenance services and activities with other related departments (i.e., Dietary, Nursing, Activities, etc.).
• Make written oral reports/recommendations to the Administrator as necessary/required concerning the operation of the Maintenance Department.
• Assist in establishing a preventive maintenance program.
