Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking a Maintenance Assistant I to perform minor repairs and routine building and grounds maintenance at the assigned complex. You will work independently and with a flexible schedule, reporting to a Maintenance Supervisor on-site.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of facilities maintenance experience, a High School Diploma or GED, and a valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Qualifications

• Must pass fingerprint clearance and background check.
• Ability to perform under potentially stressful conditions and manage interactions with challenging clients.
• High School Diploma or GED and a valid California driver’s license with clean record.

Responsibilities

• Maintains interior and exterior of assigned buildings, parking lots and grounds.
• Performs minor repairs (carpentry, plumbing, painting, refurbishing) and assists on more complex tasks.
• Keeps tools and stock organized; follows maintenance checklist and safety regulations.
• Conducts regular inspections and may operate company vehicle for supplies.
