The role supports the Facilities Department in maintaining equipment, buildings, and pool systems, with emphasis on safety and timely maintenance responses.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and hands-on maintenance experience, including painting, sanding, and basic carpentry. Flexible hours and a team environment are expected.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with general maintenance and use of hand tools, including painting, sanding, pool maintenance and cleaning.
• Minor carpentry ability to handle basic repairs around the building.

Responsibilities

• Complete maintenance and repair tasks as directed by Facilities and Operations management.
• Monitor operation and proper use of all equipment and systems.
• Maintain buildings/structures and respond to maintenance calls.
• Identify safety hazards and maintenance needs.
• Assist Facilities Engineer with room equipment, pool and grounds maintenance.
• Manage building checklists and asset servicing schedule.

This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: Dune Deck Beach Club in Westhampton Beach, NY.

Dune Deck Beach Club is seeking a seasonal Facilities Maintenance Assistant to join the Facilities Department. This position is available from April 1- October 31, 2027. This position is H2B eligible.

The Facilities Maintenance Assistant helps to maintain all building equipment in good working condition. This role also focuses on the maintenance and cleaning of equipment. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete all maintenance and repair tasks as directed by Facilities and Operations management.
• Monitor operation and proper use of all equipment and systems.
• Maintain all operation buildings/structures.
• Trouble shoot and repair issues throughout the club.
• Answer and respond to maintenance calls for assistance.
• Identify any issues regarding safety, hazardous conditions, or maintenance needs.
• Monitor the use and inventory of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment.
• Communicate information related to tasks and projects that will impact service within other departments.
• Follows procedures for use of Work Orders and Preventive Maintenance.
• Communicate accurately and effectively with Department Heads, Co-Worker, Members and Guests.
• Adhere to safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
• Assists Facilities Engineer in maintaining and repairing room equipment, painted surfaces, pool and pool equipment, building grounds, and other systems/equipment as directed.
• Manage building check lists to ensure the building assets are managed and serviced according to schedule.
• Knowledgeable of all property emergency, safety/disaster plans and procedures.
• Responds promptly to emergencies.
• Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or equivalent
• Proficiency in general maintenance and use of hand tools, including painting, sanding, pool maintenance and cleaning.
• Minor carpentry ability to handle basic repairs around the building.

• Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
• Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (60) pounds.

Benefits

• $23.16 - $29.26 per hour

• Optional furnished housing is available to a worker who lives outside of a commutable distance through a separate company at a weekly housing rate of $125 (including Basic Utilities). Private rooms available at a weekly housing rate of $250. Private rooms options are limitedand subject to availability. If the worker chooses to live in optional housing, payment is made via electronic payment, no cash, directly to the landlord each month.
