Job summary

City of Dunn Public Works Department seeks a Facilities Maintenance Assistant to perform a range of semi-skilled trades tasks in maintaining City buildings and facilities. Under the supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Specialist, you will repair, renovate, install and perform preventive maintenance on mechanical, plumbing, and structural systems within City facilities.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid North Carolina Driver License, and substantial experience

Job description

The City of Dunn Public Works Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Facilities Maintenance Assistant. This individual performs variety of responsible semi-skilled tasks in the construction and maintenance of City building and facilities under the supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Specialist. Responsibilities include, performing repairs, renovations, installations, construction and preventative maintenance of mechanical, plumbing and structural maintenance issues within the City facilities. Work subjects the employee to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, extremes in temperatures, and hazards associated with equipment operation including moving mechanical parts, noise, vibrations, working on ladders, dusts, fumes, oils, gases and mists. The physical duties of the job include bending, stooping, standing, walking, kneeling, climbing ladders, pushing, pulling, reaching and lifting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally; 50 pounds of force frequently; and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Minimum Requirements

Candidate must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid North Carolina Driver License., and considerable experience in semi-skilled trades work such as plumbing and carpentry work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
