Job summary

Gordon Food Service is seeking an entry-level Maintenance Technician (Apprentice) to support both manual and mechanized distribution centers. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, and repair/building systems under close supervision on a busy campus.

The role emphasizes safe tool use, component identification, and adherence to OSHA guidelines, with mentorship from Level 2 technicians and a 12-month Honeywell Level 1 learning requirement.

Qualifications

• Basic mechanical skills and ability to identify components.
• Safe and proper use of hand tools for maintenance tasks.
• Ability to perform basic preventive maintenance after demonstration.
• Basic electrical skills and use of a multimeter for continuity checks.
• Ability to wire a 480V 3-phase motor using a simple diagram.
• Demonstrated focus on maintenance quality with strict adherence to OHS practices.

Responsibilities

• Maintains PIVs, fire protection, dock equipment, lighting, and related systems.
• Performs diagnostics and repairs on building equipment and systems.
• Dismantles devices to access defective parts and uses hoists/tools.
• Keeps maintenance shop and tool areas orderly and stocked.
• Completes work orders within the assigned time frame.
• Adheres to OSHA and applicable safety guidelines.
• Supports Level 2+ technicians with on-floor leadership and mentoring.
