Position Description

With assignments issued by the Supervisor/Group Leader, the Technician performs major mechanical and electrical work, depending upon expertise and training, including installation of new equipment, maintenance and repair works. Installs machinery, motors, generators, etc. from blue prints or other diagrams. Also works on boilers, air conditioning systems and process furnaces. Supervises a helper where the volume of works warrants additional help. Prepares bills of materials to complete assigned tasks

Key Responsibilities
  • Trouble shoots maintenance problems involving electrical, structural, plumbing and equipment repair or replacement.
  • Help maintain equipment parts lists and perform daily PMs on equipment.
  • Assist in set-up of equipment as needed.
  • Adheres to company safety, environmental and property protection policies and complies with appropriate codes on work performed.
  • Occasional heavy lifting, pulling, pushing, stooping, climbing, reaching, bending and working in awkward positions are required. May be exposed to accumulations of dirt and grease, smoke, heat and fumes.

Must be flexible, problem solving oriented, acceptable to change and display initiative to learn and make improvements in the workplace.

Required Education & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of experience
  • Must be knowledgeable about various types of electrical and/or mechanical equipment
  • Must be able to analyze causes of failures and make necessary repairs. Also must be able to recognize and implement ways to prevent these failures.

Travel: Minimal travel involved, but may be required.
