Job summary

Mel Trotter Ministries in Grand Rapids, MI, is seeking a Facilities Maintenance professional to keep our campus safe and functional. You’ll perform routine maintenance, handle repairs, and support remodeling and expansion projects under the direction of the Property and Facilities Director.

Day-to-day work blends hands-on tasks with planning, prioritizing safety and efficiency. A strong maintenance background and a valid driver’s license help you adapt to changing priorities and keep facilities

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry and HVAC systems.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain buildings, equipment, and grounds; perform day-to-day maintenance and repairs.
• Support remodeling and construction projects as needed.
• Coordinate with the Property and Facilities Director to set priorities and plan tasks.

What You’ll Handle

As Facilities Maintenance, you’ll keep our buildings, equipment, and grounds running smoothly so our programs can stay focused on serving people. You’ll execute day-to-day maintenance and repairs, support remodeling and construction projects, and help maintain safe, orderly grounds—all under the direction of the Property and Facilities Director.

Key qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience
• Basic to moderate knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems
• Valid driver’s license

A Day That Flows

You’ll start by checking in with the Property and Facilities Director to line up priorities, then move through the campus tackling a mix of quick fixes and longer projects. Some moments are hands-on and fast; others are measured and methodical as you work through a remodel or build-out. Between tasks, you’ll stay flexible—switching gears when something unexpected pops up—while keeping a steady pace and a safety-first mindset. By the end of the day, you’ll have a clear list of what’s done, what’s next, and the satisfaction of leaving the space in better shape than you found it.
