Service Technician
Position Description

The Service Technician is responsible for maintaining the physical condition, safety, and operational integrity of facilities. This role performs routine and preventive maintenance, responds to work orders, and completes repairs across electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry trades. The Technician ensures facilities remain safe, functional, and aligned with organizational standards.

Schedule

Sunday – Thursday, 10:30 am – 7:00 pm (40 hours per week)

Compensation

Hourly rate: $25.89 – $27.39, commensurate with experience

Requirements
  • HS Degree/GED
  • 1–3 years of facilities management experience in multi‑housing or residential facilities
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and personal car liability insurance (vehicle mileage reimbursed)
  • Basic Life Support (CPR & AED) certification
Preferred
  • 3–5 years of facilities management experience in multi‑site housing or residential facilities
  • Experience in electrical, mechanical, plumbing, or carpentry
  • Prior supervisory experience
Skills & Abilities
  • Understanding of electrical, fire systems, plumbing, carpentry, and general maintenance
  • Knowledge of landscaping and painting
  • Time‑management and prioritization of multiple tasks
  • Professional verbal communication skills

  • Proficient with hand and power tools, and maintenance equipment
  • Basic computer skills for invoicing, email, and work orders

  • Troubleshooting plumbing issues and preventive maintenance
Expected Contributions
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and basic repairs to building systems and equipment
  • Ensure building systems operate safely, efficiently, and as intended
  • Document all service requests promptly per policy
  • Prepare vacant units for move‑in
  • Maintain inventory for cost‑effective operations
  • Answer mobile phone during off‑hours and respond to 24‑hour emergency calls
  • Complete service requests promptly
  • Maintain safety standards
  • Coordinate and monitor contractor work
  • Communicate work status updates to Facilities Management and Property Management
  • Complete landscaping and grounds work as needed
Environmental Working Conditions

Works indoors and outdoors, driving to different locations, exposed to weather, traffic, hot/cold surfaces, moisture, dust, oils, fumes, and mechanical/electrical hazards. Works with cleaning agents; noise level loud when operating power tools.

Chief Building Engineer

Position Designation

Safety Sensitive; subject to drug testing; disqualification for presence of marijuana in test results.

Physical Demands

Regular use of hands, fingers, arms; frequent standing and walking; occasional sitting. Stooping, squatting, crawling in confined spaces. Climb stairs, ladders, or small stools; lift and carry items typically weighing less than 40 lbs.
