Peckham Diversified - Facilities Level III

SUMMARY

The Facilities Level III position assists in various roles at Revolution Farms West. Primary duties of this position include repairs and monitoring of structures, systems, and equipment as well as crop maintenance and harvest activities. Responsibilities may also include general building maintenance, preventive building maintenance, hoop house maintenance, and equipment and machinery maintenance. Duties may also include landscape maintenance, weed control, mowing, trimming, general cleaning, leaf removal, the setup/removal of holiday decorations, and snow removal activities. The Level III position requires successfully passing skills assessments, safety training, and obtaining forklift certification.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Follow Revolution Farms and Peckham safety guidelines
  • Perform Hoop house routine maintenance and repairs as needed, and complete associated reports and forms
  • Assist with tracking inventory of equipment and tools and parts and complete associated reports and forms
  • Assist with equipment monitoring and troubleshooting and complete associated reports and forms
  • Assist with repair and maintenance of implements and motorized equipment and complete associated reports and forms
  • Assist with grounds maintenance activities such as turf and landscape maintenance and installation activities
  • Assist with snow removal and clearing of emergency exits and walking areas, spreading salt & deicer on walkways, constructing snow fences, operating a snow blower
  • Assist in overhead and specialty cleaning of wall, ceiling, and floor surfaces cleaning by means of dusting or vac systems
  • Assist with setup and removal of holiday decorations around Lansing area facilities i.e. hanging lights, setting up displays, following diagrams and verbal instructions
  • Assist with general facility maintenance including repair, cleaning and upkeep of fixtures, appliances, storage racking, and furniture, as well as assist with installation using hand and power tools
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work area and report any safety concerns to the supervisor
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions
  • Communicate effectively with other team members and staff
  • Contribute positively to team goals and maintain a collaborative work environment
  • Other related duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 18 years old
  • Valid MI driver’s license
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Level II of the Peckham Farms Systems and Equipment Training Certification or comparable training or experience
  • Intermediate level of knowledge of agriculture and building maintenance or repair
  • Ability to read documents, instructions and manuals, complete reports and forms and have functional computer knowledge
  • Within 30 days-Successful completion, or maintenance of Forklift Certification, successful completion of the Level III Peckham Farms General Skills Training and Assessment
  • Ability to climb ladders and work from heights, and the ability to kneel and crouch for extended periods
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnish in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Basic math skills: counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure, a thermometer, volt meter, and torque wrench
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prior experience in agriculture, horticulture, landscaping, or a related field
  • Experience with farm equipment operation
  • Dependability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic
  • Customer service experience, particularly in a retail or outdoor setting
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and snow
  • Exposure to agricultural materials including items such as soils, fertilizers, plant matter, and various growing amendments
  • Frequent use of hand tools, power tools, and motorized equipment
  • Frequent standing, walking, grabbing, handling, carrying, balancing, sorting, lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work is performed across both indoor facilities and outdoor environments at Revolution Farm, with conditions varying significantly by season. Employees should expect regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, dust, fumes, and airborne particles, as well as occasional loud noise. Outdoor work involves exposure to insects, inclement weather, and temperature extremes throughout the year. This role requires hands‑on operation of a broad range of tools and equipment, including, but not limited to, ground maintenance tools (shovels, hoes, rakes, string trimmers, lawn edgers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, push and riding mowers), utility and transport vehicles (ATV, UTV, golf cart, wheelbarrow), lift and access equipment (scissor lift, rolling scaffolding, folding and extension ladders), cleaning equipment (shop vacuums, power washers), seasonal equipment (snow blowers, salt and fertilizer spreaders, spot spray applicators), and irrigation components (pumps and sprinklers).
