Job summary

Educational Alliance in New York is seeking an experienced Building Engineer-Facilities Manager to lead the upkeep of our 14th Street Y facility. You will supervise the Superintendent, oversee maintenance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems, and coordinate repairs with vendors to ensure safe, reliable operations.

This full-time role requires 5+ years at a director level and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelors degree required.
• 5+ years at director level overseeing building engineering and maintenance.
• S-95 certification and Fire Safety Director certification required or obtainable within specified timeframes.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems.
• Experience with capital projects and DOB/FDNY code compliance.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot building systems (HVAC, boilers, plumbing, electrical, fire safety).
• Coordinate and oversee repairs, maintenance work, and vendor activities.
• Manage contractors and ensure timely, high-quality work.
• Monitor and maintain building security and access control.
• Ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and safety requirements.
• Oversee capital projects and future BMS integrations.
• Mentor the Superintendent and assist with work orders from program staff.
