Job summary

Turning Stone Enterprises is seeking a Facilities Inspector to manage floor plans, schedule maintenance for Nation buildings, and coordinate monthly and annual inspections. The role includes coordinating with vendors for fire extinguishers, extinguishing system checks, and update of floor plans as buildings change.

Ideal candidates have building inspection experience, knowledge of safety codes, and the ability to work outdoors in varied conditions.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of construction materials and methods.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety Ordinances with emphasis on property maintenance, fire safety and building codes.
• Excellent graphic communication, ability to gather information and present space allocation options.
• Computer skills including databases, spreadsheets, word processing; CAD experience (MicroStation preferred).
• Ability to respond to emergency calls within a reasonable time.
• Experience with inspecting buildings and adhering to codes; some field work preferred.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in extreme conditions; physical tolerance for hazards.
• Valid NYS driver's license.
• Ability to stand, walk, sit for long periods and lift up to 70 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Performs monthly inspections and coordinates annual inspections with fire extinguisher vendor.
• Maintains fire extinguisher inventory and updates units as required.
• Tests emergency lights monthly and yearly.
• Coordinates sprinkler system inspections; reviews reports and addresses deficiencies.
• Orders canopy suppression system inspections and develops proposals.
• Develops and maintains floor plans of Nation buildings and updates after changes.
• Monitors propane levels during winter.
• Performs maintenance inspections and recommends repairs.
• Provides emergency snow removal.

Job Requirements

Starting Pay Range: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 yearly

The Facilities Inspector is responsible for handling a file of floor plans, establishing a schedule for the maintenance of Nation buildings, and ensuring monthly inspections and annual inspections are coordinated and scheduled.

Day Shift Available

Your day-to-day as a Facilities Inspector will entail:

• Performs monthly inspections and coordinates annual inspections with fire extinguisher vendor.
• Maintains fire extinguisher inventory and changes out units as required.
• Performs monthly and annual rundown test of emergency lights.
• Coordinates inspection of sprinkler systems. Reviews reports and develops proposal to address deficiencies.
• Orders inspection of canopy suppression systems. Reviews reports and develops proposal to address deficiencies.
• Develops and maintains floor plans of all Nation buildings. Updates after construction or changes.
• Monitors and addresses propane levels during winter.
• Perform maintenance inspections of buildings and recommend repairs.
• Emergency snow removal.

Work Experience

To be successful as a Facilities Inspector, you'll need:

• General knowledge of construction materials and methods typically used for one and two story buildings used in this region and IBC code requirements.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety Ordinances with particular emphasis on property maintenance, fire safety and building code issues.
• Excellent graphic communication skills, particularly effective at gathering information from Department and Program personnel, reporting data and presenting space allocation alternatives.
• Computer skills, preferably including familiarity with database structure, spreadsheets, word processing; project planning and computer aided drafting (MicroStation experience preferred).
• Ability to respond to emergency calls within a reasonable period of time.
• Prior experience with inspecting buildings, adhering to codes, and some field work preferred.
• To be able to work indoors and outdoors under conditions ranging from extreme hot to extreme cold, fumes, odors, dust and poor ventilation.
• Must be able to work around mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive and height hazards.
• A valid NYS Driver's License.
• The ability to stand, walk, and sit for long periods of time and lift up to 70 pounds.
