Job summary

The University of Chicago's Animal Resources Center seeks a Facilities Manager to supervise a team responsible for capital projects from design through commissioning and close-out. This role leads construction and renovation efforts, ensuring assets come online efficiently and in alignment with university standards.

You will oversee maintenance schedules with external vendors, forecast equipment lifecycles, and coordinate with facilities groups.

Qualifications

• College degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5-7 years of work experience in a related discipline.
• Academic environment experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee ARC/OSRF renovation/construction projects from design to closeout; provide status and reports to Associate Director.
• Supervise maintenance & infrastructure team; manage vendor schedules and forecasts, time approvals.
• Monitor environmental conditions and building systems; coordinate with veterinary faculty to resolve issues.
• Manage relationships with facilities groups; supervise external vendors and coordinate bidding and budget development.
• Develop and present reports for ARC/OSRF infrastructure and projects.
• Lead team in applying design/construction standards focusing on quality and sustainability.
• Coordinate bidding, vendor selection and budget development for projects.
• Prepare daily budgets and schedules; report progress on active projects.
• Plan project closeout with punch lists, as-builts, and handover to Asset Management.
• Perform other related work as needed.
