Job summary

SAIC seeks a facilities and hardware specialist to support satellite ground systems at Kirtland AFB, NM. You will maintain IT and telecom equipment in a secure operations center, perform preventive maintenance, and support facilities operations in all weather.

The role requires lifting 50 lb boxes, climbing, and frequent physical activity, with about 10% travel to Schriever SFB and the Colorado Springs area, plus on-call duties up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or equivalent with 5 years of hardware/facilities experience, or 4 years with substituted degree
• Active TS clearance or DoE Q with SCI eligibility (must obtain TS/SCI) within 3 months
• Experience with IT equipment, cabling, racks, servers, switches
• Knowledge of facility operations and maintenance procedures
• Ability to work in a team under tight schedules

Responsibilities

• Review mechanical designs, calculations, drawings or specs for compliance with standards
• Assist in estimating new equipment and major repairs
• Install and maintain equipment and systems
• Provide emergency and scheduled maintenance repairs
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems
• Diagnose issues, replace parts, test and adjust
• Conduct FMEA and root-cause analyses
• Manage computer and network spares based on utilization and failure rates
• Manage a storage facility with tools for several ground systems in a classified area
• Travel approximately 10% to Schriever AFB and Colorado Springs
• Participate in on-call support up to 25% with 60-minute response near Kirtland AFB
