Job summary

The Glenview Park District is seeking a part-time maintenance assistant to join our team in Glenview, IL. You will perform general building maintenance and repairs, assist with construction projects, and thoroughly clean interiors including floors, windows, walls, bathrooms, and kitchens.

Role includes seasonal duties such as snow removal and salting, landscaping tasks, and helping with program setup and teardown. A valid Illinois driver’s license is required and compensation is $18/hr.

Qualifications

• Minimum Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: At least 1-2 years’ relevant experience.
• Certifications / Memberships: Professional certification(s) and/or active membership in a professional association desirable.
• Licenses: Illinois driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Performs general building maintenance and repair.
• Assists with construction projects.
• Cleans the interiors of buildings thoroughly (washing & waxing floors, windows, wiping walls, cleaning bathrooms & kitchen areas, etc.).
• Performs all seasonal work assignments (e.g. snow removal, salting, etc.).
• Completes landscaping activities (planting, mowing, raking, chipping, etc.).
• Performs set-up and tear-down for programs and special events.
• Removes garbage and disposes of properly.
• Minor maintenance of all tools, equipment, machinery, and mechanical systems as necessary.
• Routinely inspects furnishings and landscaping (walkways, parking lots, benches, etc.).
• Identifies and repairs or reports any failures or hazards.
• Secures each location before leaving site, checking security, light fixtures, fire extinguishers, thermostats, locks, and related items.
