Job summary

The Village for Families and Children is seeking a Maintenance Technician to install, repair and maintain facilities and perform light plumbing/electrical work. You will provide courier and office support and assist with agency events, collaborating with staff to address maintenance needs.

Strong safety awareness and the ability to work on-call are required. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid CT driver’s license, and at least two years in a related trade

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must have valid CT driver’s license and access to personal transportation.
• Two years’ experience in construction trade or property maintenance.
• Able to work in a fast-paced setting as a team member.
• Proactive, enthusiastic, patient, flexible, and able to handle crises calmly.

Responsibilities

• Performs grounds checks daily and addresses safety concerns.
• Conducts monthly and other periodic inspections of facilities and vehicles.
• Monitors buildings for fire/safety code compliance.
• Spot checks ice/snow removal in parking lots and sidewalks.
• Sets up/breaks down rooms for meetings as required.
• Moves and assembles furniture.
• Coordinates with vendors for agency inspections.
• Escorts and directs visiting contractors and vendors.
• Available for on-call coverage after hours and weekends on rotation.
• Checks electronic/phone messages daily for repair requests.
• Performs designated grounds projects.
• Ensures cleaning supplies are available for the cleaning company weekly.
• Interacts daily with situations typical of a residential program setting.
• Provides courier services including sorting, pickup and delivery of agency mail.
• Shuttles vehicles for inspection and service.
