Job summary

Solid Waste Management seeks a capable laborer to perform manual tasks supporting city facilities and operations. The role involves construction, maintenance, janitorial duties, and assisting skilled staff on park projects, roadways, and open space areas.

Applicants must have or obtain a New Mexico driver's license and a City Operator's Permit within 6 months. Work includes field, warehouse, and construction sites with exposure to outdoor conditions and heavy equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 1 year of general maintenance or construction experience preferred.
• Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver’s License or ability to obtain by date of hire.
• Possession of a City Operator’s Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.
• Work environment includes field, construction site and warehouse settings; travel between sites.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide variety of manual labor tasks in support of assigned function including construction and maintenance of City facilities, structures or open space areas.
• Assist skilled staff with construction of park facilities, install forms, shovel concrete, and assist with block laying.
• Perform janitorial and custodial duties; sweep, mop, vacuum, and clean restrooms and facilities.
• Assist warehouse staff with receiving, unpacking, stocking and inventory control.
