Job summary

The City of Albuquerque is seeking a Laborer to support the Solid Waste Management division, SW-Commercial Collection. This role involves performing a wide range of manual labor tasks, assisting in construction and maintenance of City facilities, open spaces, streets, and waste collection operations.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED with preferred maintenance or construction experience, and must obtain a New Mexico driver’s license and a City Operator's Permit within specified

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One year of general maintenance or construction experience preferred.
• Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide variety of manual labor tasks in support of assigned function including construction and maintenance of City facilities, grounds, open space areas, and related structures.
• Assist in building and maintaining park facilities, fencing, shade structures, and play areas in newly developed parks.
• Perform general building janitorial and custodial duties; sweep, mop, vacuum, and clean rest-rooms and common areas.
• Assist warehouse staff with receiving, unpacking, storing and distributing supplies; help with inventory control.
• Support street and open space maintenance, including weed control, litter removal, and installation of gates, signs, and utility features.
• Operate and assist with solid waste collection tasks; guide trucks in alleys and assist in hazardous waste pickup as required.
