Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Corrections is seeking an experienced Facilities Maintenance Supervisor to lead daily and emergency maintenance for a Level III institution. You will plan, supervise, and coordinate trades, preventive maintenance, and on-call responses to keep critical systems running.

Responsibilities include developing maintenance plans for buildings and equipment, prioritizing work, training new staff and inmate workers, and ensuring cost-effective procurement.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree with related work experience.
• High school diploma + 5 years supervisory experience and relevant trades knowledge.
• Thorough knowledge of the trades supervised.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, coordinate, implement and supervise the daily and emergency maintenance and repair programs for a Level III Institution.
• Develop maintenance plans and procedures for buildings, utility services, grounds, installed equipment, etc.
• Determine requirements, set priorities, obtain required materials and equipment, and assign work.
• Establish on-call procedures to respond to emergency maintenance and repair calls and ensure the work is promptly and properly performed.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance program for the institution.
• Determine all items requiring periodic preventive maintenance and develop PM check list for each item.
• Schedule and follow up to ensure that preventive maintenance is completed as required.
• Develop plan and cost estimate, determine schedule, and obtain required materials, supplies, and equipment.
• Select, orient, and train new employees and inmate trade workers and evaluate their performance.
• Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.
