Job summary

Nisqually Indian Tribe is seeking a dedicated Custodian/Maintenance worker to perform custodial tasks, basic maintenance, and groundskeeping for government facilities. The role emphasizes confidentiality, safety, and professional presentation, with occasional extended hours to meet project deadlines.

You will handle routine cleaning, light repairs, landscaping, and event support while ensuring a clean, secure environment for staff and the public.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent within the first year of employment.
• Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
• A valid Washington State Driver's license and driving record meeting Nisqually requirements within the first year.
• Experience performing custodial or maintenance duties.
• Knowledge of the Nisqually Indian Tribe's history, customs, traditions, and cultural sensitivity.
• Experience working with Federally Recognized Tribes.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, including changing light bulbs and addressing minor plumbing issues.
• Inspect for pests, structural damage, and equipment malfunctions; report findings.
• Paint the interior and exterior of facilities and other structures as needed.
• Assist with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and other repair projects.
• Clean and sanitize floors, restrooms, kitchens, and common areas; restock supplies.
• Clean and polish furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
• Empty and sanitize garbage cans and ashtrays; manage recycling and waste disposal.
• Set up, tear down, and preparation for events, meetings, and activities.
• Deliver, move, and assemble office furniture, equipment, and supplies.
• Mow lawns, water plants, and perform routine weeding and pruning.
• Maintain landscaping features and remove debris from exterior spaces.
• Clean parking lots and walkways; collect and dispose of exterior trash.
• Perform basic repairs and routine servicing of maintenance tools and equipment.
