Job summary

The Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation (BNYDC) is seeking a Laborer to perform routine cleaning and support events across its facilities. You will handle floor care, restroom service, snow removal, and setup for meetings, working mainly on-site in New York.

Requirements include 3+ years of custodial experience, a valid driver's license, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and willingness to work weekends or evenings as needed. This is a non-exempt, full-time position with union Local 3.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of custodial/janitorial experience.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to lift/move equipment up to 50 pounds.
• Willingness to work weekends and evenings as needed.
• Experience with floor care including stripping and waxing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
• Clean floors and walls by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
• Dispose of trash or waste materials.
• Follow procedures for chemical cleaners and power cleaning equipment.
• Notify supervisors about major repairs or building systems needs.
• Maintain lawns and shrubbery as directed.
• Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas.
• Set up and break down decorations, tables, chairs, and scaffolding for events.
• Move heavy furniture and equipment as needed.
• Drive vans or other vehicles as required.
• Prepare work sites as instructed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
