Job summary

The Tech Interactive in San Jose is seeking a Special Events & Maintenance Specialist to handle events operations and facility maintenance. The role is non-exempt and on-site, with duties spanning staging, setup, installations, and safety compliance for guests and staff.

You will work primarily Tuesday–Saturday with some evenings; requires ability to lift up to 75 lbs and operate forklifts and scissor lifts where needed. Contact [e-mail] for details.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in facilities maintenance (plumbing, electrical, painting, HVAC, minor construction).
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• General knowledge of tools, hardware, and building materials used in maintenance.
• Training in scissor lift operation is desired.
• Training in forklift operation is desired.
• Valid California driver’s license with favorable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and stage inventory for events; collaborate to meet client needs in real time.
• Set up and strike equipment for events; return items to storage.
• Attend weekly Special Events meetings; report maintenance issues through proper channels.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, carpentry).
• Integrate mechanical, electrical, AV, and interactive components into exhibits as needed.
• Operate loading dock and forklift; manage equipment deliveries and event items.
• Maintain safe, organized workspaces and comply with applicable codes.
