Job summary

The Facilities Attendant at The Contemporary Austin supports both Jones Center and Laguna Gloria, helping oversee daily operations of the buildings and grounds and ensuring a welcoming, safe environment for visitors and staff.

You will assist with event setups for rentals and programs, monitor on-site vendors, manage access, and help with basic AV equipment. The role requires reliable outdoor work, physical tasks, and strict attention to safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Available to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
• Reliable transportation to/from both museum locations.
• Comfortable outdoors in a variety of conditions including extreme heat and cold.
• Able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Able to climb a 16 ft ladder.
• Self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of buildings and grounds at the Jones Center and Laguna Gloria.
• Assist and monitor outside vendors on site, grant access, and relay information to Facilities Managers.
• Assist with event setups for rentals, programming, education visits, art school classes, and executive events.
• Provide event support for fundraising events The Very Rary and Art Dinner.
• Note and document facilities issues in TCA’s internal reporting app in Teams.
• Participate in site development, reorganization, and assembly of office furniture.
• Take direction from Facilities Managers and Duty App.
• Assist with crowd and traffic flow during busy times.
• Open and close buildings and manage alarm systems.
• Participate in Health and Safety Training; set up, use, and troubleshoot radios, loudspeakers, and basic AV equipment.
