Job summary

The Contemporary Austin is seeking a Facilities Attendant to support both Jones Center and Laguna Gloria locations. You will oversee daily operations of buildings and grounds, assist with event setups, coordinate with vendors, and help with safety training and AV equipment setup.

Ideal candidates can lift 50lbs, work outdoors in varying conditions, and communicate effectively with staff and vendors. Flexible hours including evenings and weekends are required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain general site facilities and equipment across both locations.
  • Monitor and coordinate with external vendors, grant access, relay information to Facilities team.
  • Assist in setting up events (tables, chairs, tents) for rentals and programs.
  • Provide event support for large fundraising events.
  • Report facility issues using the internal Teams app.
  • Participate in site development, reorganizations, and furniture setup.
  • Assist with crowd and traffic flow during busy times.
  • Open and close buildings, manage alarms as required.
  • Participate in Health & Safety trainings.
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot basic AV equipment.

Job description

The Facilities Attendant provides support to both TCA locations, the Jones Center downtown and Laguna Gloria in west Austin. This person will help oversee daily operations of buildings and grounds.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure high quality general maintenance of site facilities and equipment, including the historic Driscoll Villa, the Gatehouse, Visitor Center, and the Jones Center
  • Assisting and monitoring outside vendors on site, granting access, and relaying information to the Facilities Managers and Facility Attendant Leads.
  • Assist other departments leads in the setting up of events for rentals, TCA public programming, family programming, education visits, art school classes and executive events including tables, chairs, tents, etc.
  • Event support for our large fundraising events The Very Rary and Art Dinner.
  • Noting and documenting facilities issues on TCA's internal reporting app in Teams.
  • Taking part in special projects like site development, reorganization
    and assembling of office furniture etc.
  • Taking direction on projects and daily tasks from Facilities Managers and Dep duty App.
  • Assisting with crowd and traffic flow inside the grounds at busy times.
  • Opening and closing buildings as needed by schedule or event needs. Includes arming and disarming alarm systems.
  • Taking part in all Health and Safety Training that TCA facilitates.
  • Setting up, using, and troubleshooting radios, loudspeakers, and basic AV equipment.
Qualifications

  • Reliable transportation to/from both museum locations
  • Comfortable working outdoors in a variety of conditions including extreme heat and cold
  • Comfortable with basic hand tools, shop vacs, sump pumps, floor buffer and pressure washers
  • Strong problem solver
  • High attention to detail; highly organized
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lift 50lbs on a regular basis
  • Ability to climb 16ft ladder
