Job summary

UG2, based in Boston, seeks an Engineering Manager to oversee all facility operations, maintenance, and engineering services. You will lead engineers and technicians, manage vendors, and implement preventive and predictive maintenance to ensure reliability and safety of building systems.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in Engineering/Facilities Management, 10+ years in facilities management with 5+ in leadership within life science settings, and CMMS proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field.
• 10+ years facilities management experience; 5+ in leadership in life science/medical/research facilities.
• Experience with building systems: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, lab infra.
• Proven PM, energy management, and sustainability experience.
• Strong communication and leadership skills; capable of cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers, maintenance technicians, and staff.
• Develop and implement SOPs for facility operations and maintenance.
• Establish and monitor KPIs for operational excellence.
• Oversee operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and labs.
• Implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and building codes.
• Develop and manage capital projects within time and budget.
• Manage annual operating and capital budgets for engineering activities.
• Negotiate and manage vendor contracts; evaluate performance.
• Develop emergency response plans and safety programs.
• Identify and implement innovations to improve efficiency and sustainability.
