Job summary

Vaxcyte, Inc. is seeking a Manager, Facilities Engineering in San Carlos, CA to lead the maintenance and improvement of office and laboratory spaces.

You will oversee facility engineers and technicians, plan layouts, and ensure infrastructure reliability in a fast-paced biotech environment. Responsibilities include managing preventive maintenance, coordinating external vendors, and ensuring compliance with building codes and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering.
• Experience as facilities engineer or biotech metrology.
• Experience with AutoCAD, SAP, and CMMS systems.
• Strong project management and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage the facility engineer's and facility technician's day-to-day tasks and development.
• Managing all corrective maintenance for all facility assets.
• Oversee and maintain the PM schedule for all facility assets.
• Determining facility and lab equipment specifications and requirements.
• Analyzing project costs and helping prepare draft budgets.
• Support developing specifications and implementation of facility and lab equipment, equipment layout, other facility and lab systems, and controls.
• Evaluating operational systems and facility and lab infrastructure to ascertain and improve operational efficiencies.
• Planning and coordinating facility and lab infrastructure and equipment maintenance schedules and activities.
• Manage external and internal vendors.
• Manage the install of new laboratory equipment.
• Manage ongoing preventive maintenance and repair work on office mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems, and lab equipment.
• Maintain all Vaxcyte HVAC systems and associated equipment, electrical equipment, plumbing and gas systems, building management system (BMS), and office and lab repairs.
• Maintaining and assuring the proper function of the facility and its Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and DI Water Systems.
• Coordinating and overseeing maintenance contractors performing maintenance activities.
• Manage the BMS system, fire/life safety, and other systems required for facilities.
