Job summary

Hitachi Global Air Power in Michigan City, IN, seeks a Facilities Engineer to lead design, installation, operation, maintenance, and modernization of facilities and equipment. The role reports to the Facilities Engineering Manager and collaborates with cross-functional teams on capital projects and energy management.

Responsibilities include directing construction and manufacturing projects, due diligence for M&A, creating technical specs, AutoCAD layouts, and proactive risk mitigation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar degree.
  • 5–10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with AutoCAD required.
  • Strong project management experience required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word & Excel required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Directly support Hitachi Global Air Power, Global M&A activities, and the Hitachi Air Centers (HACs) under the management of the Facilities Engineering Manager.
  • Plan, direct and supervise construction and manufacturing projects using project and cost planning and managing skills.
  • Assist in due diligence activities, site start-up activities, lease reviews, and asset reviews for M&A activities.
  • Develop and write technical specifications, designs, and plans for capital projects.
  • Develop layouts for existing and future project/processes/designs in AutoCAD.
  • Participate, lead, and utilize root cause analysis on a regular basis.
  • Manage all aspects of several concurrent projects and prioritize tasks.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to meet program targets for cost, quality, and performance.
  • Develop and communicate scope, tasks, resources, costs and timelines for projects
  • Prepare project status reports, identify any risks to plan, prepare, and execute mitigation plans.
