Job summary

Westerra Credit Union in Denver, CO is seeking a Regular Full-Time Facilities Engineer to lead the operation and maintenance of building systems across multiple locations. The role requires hands-on management of HVAC, life safety, electrical, and related infrastructure.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in building maintenance, strong communication skills, and a proactive, adaptable approach. Travel between branches is required; hybrid work options are not specified.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of building engineering and maintenance experience in an office/retail setting including HVAC, building automation, plumbing, elevators, life safety, electrical, and grounds maintenance.
• Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical blueprints and schematics.
• Valid Colorado driver’s license and ability to travel between Denver locations with own vehicle or fleet vehicle.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a can-do attitude.
• Sense of urgency, ownership, flexibility, and adaptability to changing daily plans.

Responsibilities

• Respond to and complete engineering tickets at Westerra’s Cherry Creek headquarters, branches and other sites.
• Implement and lead the preventative maintenance program.
• Serve as the subject matter expert on building systems operation and improvements.
• Develop and maintain engineering processes and safety procedures.
• Monitor and adjust mechanical equipment to keep buildings safe and comfortable.
• Troubleshoot issues with internal facilities and external vendors.
• Respond to emergency situations for employees/tenants as needed.
• Inspect grounds, buildings and equipment for unsafe conditions.
• Maintain life safety/fire systems and coordinate with security.
• Inspect new installations for compliance with codes and safety regulations.
• Assist in managing vendors to complete work orders promptly.
• Collaborate with retail, IT, HR, security and other departments to improve facilities.
• Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies.
• Mentor and train other staff and junior team members.
