Job summary

The Oak Brook Park District is seeking a Building Engineer to lead maintenance across facilities and aquatic systems. You will oversee HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical operations, while supervising two junior staff and coordinating contractors.

You’ll manage preventive maintenance, safety compliance, and seasonal aquatic operations, including Swim Central and Splash Island, ensuring top service and community safety standards.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of work experience with a trade (HVAC, electrical, plumbing)
• Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or certification within 1 year
• Bachelor's degree preferred in Parks and Recreation or related field
• Supervisory experience preferred
• Driver's license required
• First Aid/CPR/AED, Confined Space, Respirator, and Scissor Lift training within 6 months

Responsibilities

• Maintain/repair HVAC equipment in Park District facilities.
• Perform monthly preventive maintenance for HVAC systems.
• Inspect, repair, and maintain Park District facilities and equipment.
• Supervise Building Technician and Assistant Building Engineer.
• Plan payroll and performance appraisals for staff.
• Oversee maintenance of aquatic systems and water quality, per codes.
• Coordinate contractor work during Swim Central closures and Splash Island operations.
• Maintain records of maintenance activities and preventive contracts.
